# Twelve Each - a 12-12-12 declutter board for one closet, shelf or drawer, with a removal-first ruling on what you are stuck on > Declutter helper for the 12-12-12 challenge (12 things to toss, 12 to donate, 12 to put back where they belong). List what is in one zone, one item per line, the way you would say it ("Umbrellas x5", "Ice skates - last used 2019", "Drill - borrowed from my neighbor Sam", "Grandma's scarf"). The browser reads each line for the facts it states - quantity, last used, broken or worn out, never used, does not fit, kept just in case, duplicates, belongs in another room, someone else's, sentimental, a record or document, a safety or health item - suggests a bin from those facts alone, and leaves lines with no evidence in a stuck pile. The board shows three twelve-slot meters, four columns (stuck, toss, donate, put back) and a shelf (keep, hold box); cards move by drag or by button - free. One metered task, `rule`, gives every card the person did not place a bin and a one-sentence reason, removal-first but never on taste, with an irreversibility guard. Every ruling is checked against the board before it is applied. URL: https://twelve-each.skillsafe.ai/ API: https://twelve-each.skillsafe.ai/api.html Built on the SkillSafe skill @tjboudreaux/thinking-via-negativa (improve by subtraction before addition, evidence over taste, an irreversibility guard before deletion). ## What runs free in the browser (binkit.js, boardview.js) - Suggestion order: safety items (smoke alarms, extinguishers, first-aid kits, medicines, spare keys, emergency kits) keep; sentimental items go to the hold box unless in use; records go to the hold box to check how long they must be kept; someone else's things and things that belong in another room are put back; broken or worn out is toss; never used, does not fit, unused for a year or more, or surplus duplicates is donate; in use is keep; anything else is stuck. - Counts are quantities ("x5" counts five). The challenge is met at 12 in each of toss, donate and put back - 36 in all. - Exports: Markdown, a board CSV (id, item, qty, bin, placed by, put back to, hold until, facts, why), a drop-off list, and a calendar reminder (.ics) for the day to open the hold box. ## The metered task (model gpt-terra) - `rule` - inputs `zone`, `today`, `items` [{id, text, qty, facts, bin, by, page_why?, where?, owner?}], `ask` (the ids to rule on), `counts`, optional `goal` (object fields JSON-encoded as strings). Returns `title`, `summary`, `rulings` [{id, bin: toss|donate|rehome|keep|hold, why, guard: sentimental|record|safety|no-evidence|"", rehome_to, hold_days, cite}], `second_looks` [{id, to: hold|keep, why, cite}] for the person's own risky placements, `first_fifteen` (three to five steps), `dont_buy` (one sentence on storage purchases, subtraction first), `caveats`. - The page's check: every asked card ruled; a sentimental item or a record is never tossed or donated (moved to the hold box instead); a safety item is never removed unless its line says broken or expired; second looks only move toward keep or the hold box; every cited id is on the board. - House rules: only the input; no brands, prices or valuations; no shame; no safety shortcuts. ## Notes - The 12-12-12 challenge is a popular decluttering method; this page is not affiliated with anyone who teaches it. Nothing is valued or priced. Check local rules for paint, batteries, electronics and medicines. Sample zones are made up. - Saved boards go to the signed-in user's own collection (`boards`), only when they press save.
